About Katowice

Katowice is the capital of Silesian Voivodeship in southern Poland and serves as the core of the country’s second-largest urban area.

The city grew from a mining and industrial base into a metropolitan hub balancing business and cultural life.

Śródmieście hosts much of the city’s activity, but areas such as Nikiszowiec offer a glimpse into workers’ housing from the early 1900s. Katowice International Airport, 30 km north near Pyrzowice, connects the region to broader Europe.
